Temporary suspension of automatic snap registration following security incident

Igor Ljubuncic reports that on 28 September 2023 "the Snap Store team was notified of a potential security incident" that resulted in removal of those snaps. We're also told a "temporary manual review requirements on all snap registrations" now exists. Read these post for details.

Youngbin Han reports that "preparation for UbuCon Asia X LibreOffice Conf Asia 2023" is "almost ready", but planning for the UbuCon Asia 2024 is starting. This is a call for hosts, as the host city for 2024 with expectation that it will be known before "2023 ends". Details are provided, with discussions planned for Day 2 of UbuCon Asia 2023.

Dynamic Triple Buffering Patch Updated For GNOME 45

Michael Larabel reminds us that GNOME 45 released last week, and that it didn't include the dynamic triple buffering for Mutter that was Canonical-led. We're told "Canonical's Daniel Van Vugt has updated the Debian/Ubuntu patch for compatibility with Mutter 45.0". A screenshot, plus a link to the Debian merge request are provided, as well as being told it "fixes a potential leak" in certain circumstances.

Intel Has Another Series Optimizing Linux Performance With PCP High Auto-Tuning

Michael Larabel starts with a reminder that Intel has coded many optimizations that have improved performance, and tells us a "new patch series is focused on tuning the per-CPU pageset high on each CPU automatically to optimize the page allocation performance". Details of the patch series are given, with a link for those needing more.

LibreOffice 7.6.2 and 7.5.7 Released to Address Critical WebP Vulnerability
