Summary
I'm a Network Security & Unix/Linux Administrator working for a german Automotive Supplier. I'm using Ubuntu since May 2006 on the Desktop and since December 2007 on the server also. I'm seeking out new News (that no man has read before) to provide them to the german Community. I'm 32 years old and in my life besides Ubuntu I'm married and I have two little kids.

Ubuntu Contribution
Member of Ikhaya-Team , the News-Team of ubuntuusers.de
Not a contribution to Ubuntu itself, but important to me: Corrections and the monthly Kernel-Review (Kernel-Rückblick) for freiesMagazin , an online magazine that focuses on Linux and Open Source
Improving the German Ubuntu Documentation: Kismet , MeMaker , Holux m-241
Also tried the same with the Community documentation: MeMaker
Providing Support, mostly personal. Sometimes on http://forum.ubuntuusers.de
- Providing Installation CD's, sometimes on USB-Flash-Drives, and also personal help with Installation and Basic Configuration
- Doing the usual Bug Reporting or translation whenever I find something that doesn't seem right.
Launching a regular Ubuntu User Meeting in my area (which happened 16th october)
Taking my part in re-launching the UWN-de as a merger between Ikhaya's Wochenrückblick and the UWN (It will be the UWR ), including building the new team and organizing the tools needed.
Doing my share on fixing LP-Bug #1
Vision
My vision is a well-informed community. Everybody should have the freedom to choose the software he wants to use on the basis of good knowledge concerning what it does and who made it. What I do to achieve this:
- Presenting technical matters in words that beginners can understand
- Informing about the community itself
- Answering also the most stupid questions politely
I see Ubuntu as an entry-point for many people into the Linux and Open Source world, now on the desktop, and for the future on the server also. Ubuntu come with less Linux Myth, 'cause it works and there is plenty of help around to get also exotic things done with it.
I'd like the CoC to be respected and adopted more in the community, mostly the "be respective" part. This is what makes the community grow and flourish, when Newbies (and old Dogs) aren't afraid to ask their questions and get them answered until they can answer some by themselves. I'm doing my best in setting a good example here.
