About Me

At the moment, I'm a Year 12 student in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. I've been using Linux since my father introduced me to Red Hat in mid-2000. I then switched to Slackware for a while, then Debian, and finally Ubuntu (in January 2005). I've not left Ubuntu since. On 2006/09/06, I became an Ubuntu Member.

Ubuntu Involvement

I've been fairly active in the Ubuntu community since I joined it in early 2005. My contributions include:

  • Starting the Ubuntu AustralianTeam.

  • Managing the web hosting for the AustralianTeam.

  • Regular bug triage throughout Malone.
  • Updating/correcting/beautifying pages on the Ubuntu Wiki.
  • Merging and requesting syncs during Edgy development.

Ubuntu AustralianTeam

Around the release of Ubuntu 5.10, YukiCuss and I started the AustralianTeam. It consists at the moment of about 60 Australian Ubuntu users who wish to help spread the word, and is still growing. I currently manage the web/email hosting for the team.

Bug Triage

I am subscribed to the ubuntu-bugs mailing list, and triage many bugs within minutes of the inital report. I also often work through the list of unconfirmed bugs.

Goals

  • If I were to become a member of ubuntu-dev, I'd primarily concentrate on bug-fixing/creating/updating science-related packages, as well as dealing with a lot of merges and syncs. Improving communication with Debian is also high on my list of priorities, as it is currently in a fairly bad state.
