TechnicalBoardAgenda

Please use this page to add items for the Agenda of the Ubuntu Technical Board. Please see the [http://www.ubuntulinux.org/community/processes/governance Ubuntu Governance] page for details on participation.

The next meeting of the Board will be on:

2005-12-13 at 2000UTC

in channel #ubuntu-meeting on irc.freenode.net. The agenda will include the following:

  • JeffBailey: Creation and use of Mirror Status list. The US mirror has been broken a number of times, which causes channels, mailing lists, and support lines to get many questions as to why packages aren't updating, or why error messages are coming from the mirrors.

  • JeffBailey: Advisory list for any uploads to FOO-updates. Updates to installed stable systems can be a surprise. For any update to a stable version, some sort of advisory should be released so that careful admins can decide whether taking an update may have unexpected sideeffects for their stable systems.

  • ScottJamesRemnant: change of /var/run to a tmpfs

  • JohnDong: Discussion about the Backports buildd situation. Currently, the building of Backports is managed by JamesTroup. However, at times it seems like James is too swamped to respond to Backports builds in a timely manner (currently, he's yet to respond to requests since 29 Nov 2005). Those who are requesting Backports over at the forums have been growing impatient, and I'm running out of explanations to give to them. As a result, I'd like to discuss this situation and hopefully get it clarified. (I've heard from a dev this morning that in the future this may be handled by LP)

  • Other business
  • Update the agenda for the next meeting
