Introduction

Serpentine allows you to create audio CDs from different source formats, including WAV, MP3, OGG, and FLAC. Note that due to copyright and license restrictions, support for MP3 and certain other formats is not included by default in Ubuntu.

To add support, please reference [http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/ch03.html#codecs the multimedia codecs section of the Ubuntu Starter Guide].

Launching Serpentine

When you insert a blank, writable CD in your burner, a window should pop up asking what type of data you wish to burn. Clicking on "Burn Audio CD" will launch Serpentine.

Otherwise, click Applications->Sound & Video->Serpentine Audio-CD Creator.

You will see the main Serpentine window.

Adding Songs

To add songs to your audio CD, click the "Add" button from the main window. Navigate to the folder containing the files you'd like to burn. You can select multiple files at once by holding down the CTRL key while clicking. When you've finished making selections, click the "Open" button.

Serpentine also makes it easy to drag-and-drop songs. To add songs in this manner, simply drag-and-drop them from your desktop or any other folder directly into the main Serpentine window. Those songs will now be added.

Burning the Audio CD

When finished adding songs, make sure you have a blank, writeable CD in your drive. Then, click the "Write to Disc" button. After a few minutes, your audio CD will be ready to play!
