Basically, I try to give as much time as I can to these projects that we are starting in Chile, from a small group of IT biz friends called '''Tecnocimiento''' (http://www.tecnocimiento.cl):

 * MoinMoin wiki, I am one of the translators of the {{{es.po file}}}
 * Edubuntu Chilean Tour, we are '''preparing''' a series of event to demo Edubuntu to Teachers and Students.

Also, some of the Ubuntu only related stuff I do:

 * UbuntuRequestDay -> We request computers sold with Ubuntu flavours in them!
 * EdubuntuStudyPackages -> Educational content via '''apt-get install'em'''
 * EdubuntuSoftwareList -> this needs a lot of cross curricular crossing

Try any of these:
 * irc.freenode.net, #eduntu and #moin: I am `mhz`

Intro

First of all, I am a huge Chilean 30 years old fan of FreeAsInFreedom. After that, then I can say I am a volunteer fan of [http://www.edubuntu.org Edubuntu], MoinMoin and [http://www.debian.org Debian GnuLinux].

Despite of what many people think about how tedious editing stuff may be, I love to document and generate ideas, esp. for marketing FreeSoftware (as in Freedom) and KnowledgeManaging, as well as documents of a more IT_on_education nature.

Projects I am daily working for

Basically, I try to give as much time as I can to these projects that we are starting in Chile, from a small group of IT biz friends called Tecnocimiento (http://www.tecnocimiento.cl):

My Genesis

My interests on IT started way back when I got my first computer, only 6 years ago, when I was 24 (yes I am 30 now Smile :) !). The first OSes I used? were M$ Winnie NT and 98, and it took me a couple of days to notice they did not work ok for a personal computer.

As soon as I could afford it, I got an iBook 500 Mhz, DVD. It was only then that I felt what the concept of PC really meant. I felt great doing almost anything I wanted/needed to do on that machine. However, one day I made a couple of questions about customizing the entire OS for some idea I had about education and learning processes... There was no way I was allowed to do that, and so I came to understand I had no freedom of choice but only a couple of options.

Next day I was desperate trying to get alternatives for an OS I could get to make it suit for my needs. Obviously, Gnu/Linux was THE right choice.

Some experience

I have worked as a teacher, as a translator (into Spanish), as a basic IT support guy. I have helped design some web systems for education. I have been a bridge between tech guys and sales people in order to fulfill many different clients needs. For all that, the faithful Tux has always been my partner on every adventure.
