Any similarity between my page, JeffreyElkner's page, and MatthewGallagher's page is because they used mine and as a template.

My handle for pretty much the entire internet is maco. Variations are macoafi or macogw if the site requires 6 letters, but maco usually means me.

I'm a junior at GWU in Washington, DC. I'm a Computer Science major with a concentration on computer security and information assurance. If anyone who happens to be reading this is from GW or somewhere in DC, say hi.

IRC Op

I'm already a #kubuntu op. I would like to be a #ubuntu IRC op because I spend plenty of time in there, and it tends to be more in need of op-attention than #kubuntu does so I could be useful. At least twice had an #ubuntu op who was the only active one at the time give me +o in the channel since s/he was going offline for a bit and someone had to keep the peace.

I don't think my being an op would result in half the channel being banned (unless half the channel suddenly became zombies flooding the channel with "braaaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnnnnnnssssssss" in which case I think the banlist would get full before they all got banned). A full banlist that I was unable to help clear (when a few bans were pretty obviously just randomly generated nicks from Freenode attacks) is what prompted me to apply.

Jussi says I should say what about my personality makes me good but I don't like doing that. That's what testimonials are for right? To make me blush?

Testimonials

You know you wanna leave one Wink ;-)

  • I have known maco aka Mackenzie for a little over a year and I have seen her in and around Ubuntu for longer, from what I can tell she is a really great person. She cares about Ubuntu and it's success. She is always fun to chat with and when I have needed someone to vent to she always had an open /msg tab for me. I absolutely believe that she would make a great operator for #ubuntu. idleone

  • maco is a proven operator in #kubuntu (and #ubuntu, for that matter!) and a knowledgeable user in other channels we share. Her technical and interpersonal skills are proven and well-suited to operating in #ubuntu, she easily meets the operator requirements, and I believe she'd be an asset to the #ubuntu team. I support her application for permission to wield an #ubuntu banhammer. -- robertwall 2010-04-08 08:49:30

Code/Patches

Adding minimum speed, maximum speed, and acceleration to GSynaptics was my first patch. It's not in the (very old) version 0.9.5 that's in Hardy, though. I packaged up 0.9.14 to take care of it for Hardy. It is in Intrepid.

Bug #215729 was the first bug I helped fix.

First kernel patch: http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/2/13/346

Currently working on...

Add an option for a gradient background in gnome-panel ... nevermind. GNOME's replacing gnome-panel anyway so it's no use Sad :( For school, I intend to make KSign, a sign-language-teaching tool for KDEedu. Celeste keeps giving me KDE paperkuts.

My PPA

Add

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/maco.m/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/maco.m/ubuntu gutsy main restricted universe multiverse

to your /etc/apt/sources.list and then sudo apt-get update Currently, my PPA has Twitux 0.61 and GSynaptics 0.9.14 for Hardy.
