About Me

I am a 15 year old student from Vienna, Austria. Most of my time in front of the computer is spent with programming in C++, designing webpages, and playing around with Ubuntu packages. I am also interested in computer networks, cryptography and the development of games. I have been using GNU/Linux for more than 3 years now, and I strongly support free software.

My Work for Ubuntu

I have started using Ubuntu with 5.04 / Hoary, and with the start of the dapper release cycle I got interested in packaging. At the moment I maintain 10 packages in universe, and for one package I am also part of upstream (libloki). Last February I fixed around 60 unmet dependencies in universe, most of them because of a new gnustep version. If I find some free time I triage bugs in Malone, and I also review old bug reports to ensure they have the correct status. Recently I added a new column to the packaging candidates page, to make tracking the debian status and existing packages easier.

Future Plans for Ubuntu

As I am working on a game myself, I intend to join the MOTU Games Team to help out with packaging, desktop files, and what else is needed. Also as soon as I am a MOTU I will try to fix more bugs, add desktop files, and so on. (I did not do much of this stuff yet because it's complicated if you are not a MOTU)

And of course, my todo list for edgy:

  • Get attal and attal-themes updated to 0.10.1, finally ([https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/attal/+bug/2596 #2596])

  • Replace the nautilus-script-manager approach with a nice nautilus patch that allows the user to select the activated scripts in the preferences dialog
  • Fix evolution to detect gpg smart card pin requests (It is currently not possible to use OpenPGP smart cards with Evolution because of this)
  • Package and upload some of my own programming work
  • Maintain each of my packages with bzr

  • Get an Ubuntu Member, and a MOTU Smile :)
