Summary
Changed to be made to Ubiquity and OEM Install in Kubuntu Jaunty.
Release Note
Ubiquity has been improved.
Rationale
Keep to par with Ubuntu Desktop and improve usability.
Use Cases
Roger wants to select his timezone in the Caribbean which is close to other timezones, he uses he new map to select it.
Ubiquity
Ubiquity should be ported to a native KDE 4 application. This will ensure it uses the correct style and icons. (Jonathan Riddell)
The timezone map should be replaced with the SVG created by Ken. Timezones should be highlighted when the mouse runs over it. It should be created as a QGraphicsView which will allow for zoom in buttons. (Jonathan Riddell)
Mirroring the changes in the GTK frontend, the partitioning labels need to be updated [FIXME details]
The user setup page should include a password strength bar, using code from kwallet.
The advanced setup page needs the GRUB line edit replaced with a pre-seeded combo box, using the same code as the GTK frontend.
Language selector page will disappear [FIXME check with other spec].
Differences b/w Ubuntu and Kubuntu Installers
- language selection page
- Ubuntu might use the OEM language selection, but haven't decided how to handle language selection with isolinux. We will do whatever they decide to fix this
- Seele to facilitate the deciscion
KDE Colors
- Ken to provide b/g image in KDE colors + purple
OEM Install
add some more helpful links/docs in folderview to help OEM's build a better customized install add shortcut to Add/Remove in folderview is there a wiki for OEM install? should there be? and provide a shortcut for it in folderview
- JJesse will work on this -- make sure the Kubuntu documentation gets done and keep track of what Ubuntu is doing with theirs
JJesse will create docbook version of the wiki page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ubuntu_OEM_Installer_Overview) for both Kubuntu and Ubuntu
- JJesse will ping the OEM Installer Team when this is done
Disk Graphic
- Ubiquity has a Cairo bling which displays partitions and disk use
- RGreening will look in to how we could do it for Kubuntu
- This is low priority
Option for autologin
- Goes on the User Creation page
- Riddell will do this
