On May 29th, I was a candidate for Ubuntu membership. The time set for the meeting on IRC channel #ubuntu-meeting was 15:00 MST, my time zone. I work until 17:00 and cannot leave early unless it’s a medical reason. I emailed the Community Council and Seveas stating I would probably not be present for the meeting. When I arrived home at about 17:05, I noticed the meeting was still in process. I immediately stated on IRC that I was there. Seveas said ‘good’! I waited another 10-15 minutes for my candidacy to be brought forward. Seveas told me to paste something in the channel for my position. I did so when Seveas told me to. Mark took about one minute and said my wiki was thin. Another Community Council member said the same. I was ultimately told to apply again sometime.

My wiki was very black and white where I stated that I started the IRC channel for New Mexico, I started the wiki for New Mexico, and started the Launchpad site for New Mexico. I included some information about my background (i.e., education). I asked another Ubuntu member previously if this was sufficient and he said it was.

Seveas asked me if the next meeting was to be at 6:00 A.M. my time was ok for me. I told him yes. He then offered to the CC the time of the next meeting at 3:00 AM, contrary to what he told me in private message.

I feel that the Community Council made up their mind on my candidacy prior to my presence at the meeting and unfairly judged me for membership. I have reached my limit on what I can do for Ubuntu on a voluntary basis. Therefore, I have left the support for Ubuntu. I cannot and will not recommend Ubuntu in my future endeavors. Goodbye.
