Summary

The Ubuntu Beginners Team exists to enhance the initial experience of new Ubuntu users and to guide existing Ubuntu users to become part of the global Ubuntu community.

We need to improv our relationships within the community and set goals for the Natty cycle that will improve our ability to make the community onboarding experience as easy as possible. We need to have clear communication with areas of the community we are mentoring people for and provide specific roadmap for each area of interest.

Rationale

The Beginners Team has transitioned from a support group to a mentoring group. As this transition has happened a lot of our processes and guidelines have been implied instead of clearly outlined. Other structures do not fit our current goals. Reviewing and formalizing our processes will provide a clear path for beginners and improve the effectiveness of our project.

User stories

Fred is new to the community. He is not sure what areas he might be best suited to contribute to.

Bob is new to the community. Bob has been a developer for many years and knows he is interested in Ubuntu development.

Implementation

Ubuntu Develop a plan to better forge relationships with the areas of the community we are mentoring people for. Ubuntu Review and evaluate our membership process and determine the best path for mentoring in each area of the community. Does the membership process for each Focus Group best prepare someone for that area of the community? What is the standard for proficiency in each area of the community.

Unresolved issues

This should highlight any issues that should be addressed in further specifications.

BoF agenda and discussion

Use this section to take notes during the BoF; if you keep it in the approved spec, use it for summarising what was discussed and note any options that were rejected.
