• Hardy Heron Beta has been released. • The latest release of Ubuntu is OUT! [http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)] was released on October 18, 2007. Preparation is beginning for the next release [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyReleaseSchedule Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)] tentatively scheduled for a April 24, 2008 release.

• The Alabama Team is going to shoot for getting Approved LoCo status by the time that Ubuntu 8.10 is released. That gives us one year to finish the [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingApproved requirements for gaining Approved LoCo status]. Currently, there are 8 Approved US teams. There will be a checklist up on the wiki to outline the steps that we need to do for submitting our Approval Application.
